They simply increase the force you exert by changing a small amount of effort over a large distance into a greater amount of force applied over a smaller distance. This is what enables you to complete more work in a shorter period of time, which is why levers are commonly employed to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. This is also the basis behind the levers you find in a variety of everyday tools such as crowbars, fishing rods hammer claws and even your legs when you sit on the hand brake of your vehicle.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also known as upvc door handles have levers on each side to operate the multipoint locks. They are available in various finishes and variations and can be used on a wide range of materials such as UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold as a pair for the inner and outer door, with screws and spindles included. They are also available in handed and unhanded versions for different types of window handles of users.

They can be used to replace the existing upvc door. They are usually operated by lifting up the levers to throw all of the multipoint locks before turning the key to close and unlock. They offer some extra security when compared to lever handles for doors because the locking function can only be gained by entering the door with a key in the event that the door is locked.

They're not as secure as a cylinder bolt however they are a cost-effective option to provide extra home security. The only disadvantage is that they do not offer the same level of protection as a cylinder bolt, and therefore don't stop external access if the door has been left open.
